| Atkins Diet Recipes: Low Carb Flax Bread (IF)
** Recipe included in my new low carb, gluten free cookbook, Low Carbing Among Friends. Please check it out at our website @ http://www.amongfriends.us **One of the questions I get quite often is how do you give up bread on the Atkins Diet, and my point is you don't have have to. I learned this bread from Book, my Atkins Diet Drill Sergeant about 4 years ago. It is perhaps more English Muffin than bread or bun tasting, but it is good tasting. It's tastes like a course ground wheat muffin, perfect for a sausage or egg.*Join the Facebook page - http://www.facebook.com/Atkins... My Low Carb Blog - http://www.atkinsdietgeek.comB... Thank you! bowulf (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
I haven't, but others have made it in muffin cups with success. Focus4Fitness (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
You lost me at microwave. Have you tried it in the oven? bowulf (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
I grind all my own almond flours from raw or blanched almonds. Most grocery stores will have them in the baking or nut section, and all you do is run them through a cheap coffee grinder. I have a video on YT called "How to grind your own nut flours?" that helps describe the process. iamhappy4beinhappy (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
I can't find almound flour anywhere!!! But as soon as I do, I will be cooking your meals all day!! Just ate this one and it was AMAZING! thank you so much you are really really inspirational!! bowulf (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
There are very small amounts of cyanide in flax meal, but the amount is so low that there is no danger from it. As for cooked or not cooked, it doesn't matter. I regularly eat ground flax meal without cooking it. I am glad you like the videos and find them useful. makeuptoday (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Hi! Someone told me that flax seed has a dealy poison if it's not properly cooked? Is that true? Bowulf you are the best! Thank you for all your videos! =D bowulf (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
I would put them in a ziplock bag separated by a paper towel, and then store in the fridge. That is how I store them when I making them in prep for stuffing. I am glad you like them. happy2behealthy (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Hi Kent, thanks for sharing this video, this bread is amazing! I'm annoyed with myself for not trying it a lot sooner:) I made in in a bowl then sliced it length wise and topped it with poach eggs, it was awsome! Question: I'd like to make a few of these to use for breakfast during the week (my mornings are really rushed, I have 2 kids and work full time), how would you suggest I store them? I was thinking in a big ziplock but I'm not sure if I would need to store them in the fridge or not. bowulf (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Congrats on the successful start! Wowblogger (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
I'm 14 and I lost 25 lbs on a conventional diet. I recently switched to atkins (just because I wanted to switch it up) and I lost 3 lbs in just 4 days. Thanks a lot for this recipe though, can't wait to try it for breakfast tomorrow morning :D bowulf (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Congrats on the 16 pounds. Way to prove 67 years young is still a time to prove you can get still get healthy. I am glad I could help in whatever way I can. :-D
