| Oyster Stew Recipe - Cracker Style
An old family recipe from the "old man" who really enjoyed oyster stew. His was a classic. Heat the milk up to very warm before adding slowly to the heated oyster and onion and butter complex. Salt and pepper to taste. Clean hands not necessarily a plus.

I've made this a couple times and it's a simple yet wonderfully taste soup. I especially like the way he slices the onions. I do that eveytime now when I made any version of oyster stew or chowder. It gives a nice variation to the size of the onion peices and adds some texture. Very nice, thx! lovangels55 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)

I used to live up in Washington near Vaughn Bay. Out at my old landlords beach the oyster meat was about the size of a fist! Also used to work for a couple out on the Hood Canal in Tahuya and they grilled them in the half shell with Tiger Sauce and they were delicious. Makes me miss Washington. me3tv (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Fantastic. I'd go with cream or hafnhaf. sounds delicious. See other notes here for other suggestions too. Must try some Washington Oysters sometime. Totally different from the Appalachicola oysters i am sure. laurendonnelson (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
My husbands family has an oyster farm in Shelton, WA. We usually BBQ the oysters w/ butter, parmesan cheese, garlic and sometimes bacon and green onions, fry or smoke them but I think I'll have to try this! Have you ever put potatoes and bacon in it or made it w/ 1/2 & 1/2 or cream? Just wondering looks delicious! johnwally (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
