I disagree with this way sooo soo much 1. i would use brown sugar2. 12 leaves? That's gonna be soo minty3. Why not put in sugar, lime and mint, mudler it together a bit (agreed with the "don't murder it" part) and then add ice and stir it together insted? and drink with a straw, so you get at amazing taste of the sugger from the bottom? By doing that, the drink is gonna look so much better aswell.4. i see your point in adding the soda wather you did, but i really think it ruins the collor.

Actually, this is very similar to the classic recipe from Cuba in the late 1800's. I just made it. PERFECT!

It's a matter of taste. Brown sugar has more molasses flavor. Use it if you like that extra depth.

I learned from a chemist that tearing the leaves releases the Chlorophyl and actually makes the drink a little bitter. Now I always just slap the leaves to release the oil but not the bitterness! GREAT QUESTION!

can you make one on moonshine?
irishmangeorge (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
I like how breaking it up would be gross, but some how rubbing the leaves in your hands isn't as gross?
