To avoid any confusion Loukoumades - Ancient Greek "honey tokens" "harisis" are Ancient Greek doughnuts and are completely unrelated to the Turkish dish "Loukoumi" which are sometimes made in Turkey using the unique and treasured ingredient from the island of Chios, Greece masticha (mastic gum). judasgreen (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
The original name in worldwide for lokum (you call it loukoumades) is called TURKISH DELIGHT and still you are arguing it is Greek, also Greek people are trying to own another worldwide well-known staff called TURKISH COFFEE as well, they try to call it Greek coffee...It is really funny... greekaliciouscooking (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Many people confuse some Greek dishes as been Turkish because when the Turkish invaded Greece and occupied Greece for 400 years they forced the Greeks to change the names of many of their dishes to Turkish names. The Turkish continued to cook Greek dishes in their country using the Turkish name. This has confused people. At the end of the day just because I choose to cook Mexican tacos in Greece and add souvlaki in the centre it does not mean that their origins are now in Greece. They are Mexican greekaliciouscooking (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Yes indeed they are Greek and there is documented historical evidence. Loukoumades or honey tokens as they were called is also the first documented recipe of a pastry. From Loukoumades Greece then used this base to develop its various fritters eg Tomato fritters of Santorini, onion fritters of Mykonos etc noragrigori1 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)

My source comes from an Ancient Greek text during the times of the Olympic Games. Which Ancient text in existence sources it to this particular region? sebnem samar (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
