They are both fortified wines, but they are slightly different in flavor. Though they can be substituted for one another in almost all of my recipes :)

is sherry wince and hao shing wine the same?

@AsianCookingmadeEasy, I hope it wouldn't make a huge difference. There's a restaurant in WA State that makes this in addition to using carrots, baby corn, and what appeared to be green peas with the pods. None of the Chinese restaurants make it here in NYC, so I'll have to do it myself.

You can use either a chicken broth or a vegetable broth in place of it - thank you so much for watching :)

Sherry is a wine and for these recipes I use cooking sherry which can usually be found in most local grocery stores near the vinegar section. If you can't find it there, then any liquor store would have regular sherry which you can use as well. Thank you for writing and watching :)

Lila I really like all of your recipes. I have one question. Were can I buy the Sherry. Is it wine or sauce. I looked for it in diffrent Chines store and in grocery stores and not in one i didnot find it. I find a sauce that is called Worcestershire is it . Thank you

@remand The fresh shiitakes I actually purchased at Earthfare and the white buttons are from Publix. Most people say not to rinse mushrooms b/c they soak up water; but I usually do rinse them and quickly dry them with paper towels. Here however, the mushrooms had hardly any dirt on them so I just wiped the dirt with a paper towel. These were a really good selection of mushrooms - thank you for posting and watching :)
